Illustrator Dinnie and Tech Wizard Mike are currently collaborating on a Digital Citizenship picture book tentatively titled “Chippy Gets Scammed!”
Digital citizenship is the ability to navigate our digital environments in a way that’s safe and responsible and to actively and respectfully engage in these spaces.
Dinnie needed some input from me (Tech Wizard Mike) so she could design her version of “Chippy” — who is the title character in Ziggy Wants to Know… Where’s Chippy?
I sent Dinnie the text for the first page that Chippy appears on in this story, which is as follows…
On the other side of the meadow, in his tree house, the well-meaning but frankly, gullible Chippy gets a video message from someone he thinks is his friend, Samantha…

When I studied character design there were a few assignments 😃
Let’s do it for Chippy, he is new character for me to draw, so I think it would be useful for the illustration and for the story too😃!
- Can you describe in 5 adjectives who is Chippy: for example Brave, naive and so on😃
- And for the scene we should describe…
- WHAT Chippy is doing?
- And HOW is he doing it?
Dinnie sent me these sketches based on my answers to those questions…
